چکیده

Residential buildings can contribute to save energy and decrement electricity consumption in the world. On other hand, Internet of Things has allowed implementation smart homes that profile users. Nevertheless, end-users are not accepting due behavioral problems usability with Human–Machine Interface (HMI) or household appliances. As a solution, social products promote interaction between home consumer by including gamification features interface. Thus, interact compete houses reduce consumption. Therefore, this paper proposes three-step framework takes advantage within community electrical The first step collects from literature review, characteristics end-users, problems, most common elements teach, engage motivate user second required for tailored HMI each product through fuzzy logic decision. third evaluates users test which is reducing more Finally, three-level gamified mock-up depicted: level 1 single product, 2 home, three community. This be implemented small communities as residential complexes.

Assistive Human-Machine Interfaces for Smart Homes

Computer systems have shown in the past (Zajicek, 2000) that they can be powerful allies in home-based health care and offer great potential to improve quality of life but only if they are designed to take into consideration the specific needs of their beneficiaries. Satisfying usability as well as the functional requirements in such a home setting are equally critical. This paper discusses the...

Object-Specific Interfaces in Smart Homes

As smart homes become more widespread, the need for more natural forms of interaction in the home also increases. On the one hand, forcing a user to go to a central home controller at every required change does not make sense. On the other hand, having a different controller for each device is also quite overwhelming. Object-Specific Interfaces (OSIs) allow an interface customized to an object ...

A Sensor-Based Scheme for Activity Recognition in Smart Homes using Dempster-Shafer Theory of Evidence

This paper proposes a scheme for activity recognition in sensor based smart homes using Dempster-Shafer theory of evidence. In this work, opinion owners and their belief masses are constructed from sensors and employed in a single-layered inference architecture. The belief masses are calculated using beta probability distribution function. The frames of opinion owners are derived automatically ...

Smart sustainability through system satisfaction: Tailored preference elicitation for energy-saving recommenders

People can adopt many different energy-saving measures, but how can they be encouraged to take action? Recommender systems could offer a solution, but how recommender systems are used and perceived will depend on the level of knowledge people have regarding energy-saving measures. We test an energysaving recommender system that uses Multi-Attribute Utility Theory (MAUT) to recommend energysavin...

Learning-Based Energy Management System for Scheduling of Appliances inside Smart Homes

Improper designs of the demand response programs can lead to numerous problems such as customer dissatisfaction and lower participation in these programs. In this paper, a home energy management system is designed which schedules appliances of smart homes based on the user’s specific behavior to address these issues. Two types of demand response programs are proposed for each house which are sh...
